The battle screen at the Ringfort: castle health bars and the clock along the top, three lanes in the middle, and the hand of cards with the Runic Power gauge along the bottom.
WIPThe battle screen.

The battle screen

  • Top: the two castles' health, yours in blue on the left and theirs in red on the right, with the clock between them.
  • Middle: the three lanes. Your troops walk left to right.
  • Bottom: your hand, each card with its cost, and the Runic Power gauge that pays for them.
  • Banners: each castle flies the banner of its deck.
A painted board: three dirt lanes between two stone castles, one warrior walking down a lane and a spell flying.

The battle

  1. Two castles, three lanes between them. Break their castle before they break yours, and the battle is won.
  2. Drag a card onto a lane, or tap the card and then the lane. The lit strip is where it may land.
  3. A troop walks down its lane and fights what it meets. A spell lands exactly where you drop it.
A painted board: a red clock under a stormy Ragnarok sky beside two golden Runic Power crystals.

Runic Power and the clock

  1. Cards cost Runic Power. It fills by itself, up to the crystals you own, and every new draw adds a crystal.
  2. After a while the fast phase starts: twice the Runic Power, twice the cards. A card you do not want goes to Discard.
  3. If the clock runs out, Ragnarök wears down both castles until one falls. Most battles end long before.
A painted board: a hand placing a card onto a lane, with an arrow showing where it lands.

The cards

  1. The number on a card is what it costs. Tap a card to read what it does, level by level.
  2. Troops fight on the lane. Spells strike, heal or give you a crystal. A few cards land in all three lanes at once.
  3. Every card has a level. A higher level means more damage, health and healing, and effects that last longer.
A painted board: four card frames in grey, blue, purple and gold, one for each rarity.

Rarity

  1. Common, Rare, Epic and Legendary say how hard a card is to find, not how strong it is.
  2. A legendary does one big thing, and it costs for it.
A painted board: an open wooden chest full of silver coins and cards.

Between battles

  1. Battles give Silver and XP. Every win drops a chest, up to the day's most, and a chest opens the moment you get it.
  2. Chests hold Silver and copies of cards. Copies and Silver upgrade a card.
  3. Claim the daily reward on Home once a day.
A painted board: a small ring fort growing into a larger one under a player-level emblem.

Level and shop

  1. XP raises your player level. Upgrades give the most. Every level makes your castle stronger.
  2. The shop has today's cards for Silver and supplies for Amber. Amber is the rare coin, and battles earn a little of it.
A painted board: a row of five cards standing on a stone shelf.

Decks

  1. A battle starts with the deck in use. Keep several, and pick one on the Decks screen.
  2. Tap a card and then a place, or drag the card up onto the deck. Every place must be filled.
  3. Your cards stand cheapest first. Mix cheap answers with a few cards that win.
A painted board: a deck of cards behind a blue banner, with wooden bars below showing how the costs spread.

Building a deck

  1. A deck is the row of cards on the Decks shelf. The banner at its front changes how they fight.
  2. The coin by the deck's name is its average Runic Power: low plays often, high plays big.
  3. Mix troops and spells: something to hold each lane, something to break the castle, an answer to a crowd.
A painted board: fire bursting over a crowd of small warriors, and a ram crew breaking a stone wall.

Answers

  1. Area damage beats a swarm of small troops. A heavy troop shrugs off a few small blows.
  2. Siege troops break walls but stop at any enemy troop, so send a front ahead of them.
  3. Try a new deck against the bot first: Play against the bot, on Home.

Overtime is a backstop, not the plan

Ragnarök is there so no battle lasts forever: when the clock runs out, both castles start losing health until one falls. Most battles are over well before that, decided by which cards you played and when.
